City of Hartford, CT downtown signage
I designed Freestanding display cases containing informational and directional maps were designed for use in the downtown core area. The cases consist of a weatherproof, vandal-resistant, self-illuminating, aluminum and Lexan outer shell reminiscent of the federalist architecture prevalent in its immediate surroundings. The client’s criteria included a large scale map that would serve as a landmark for the area. To reduce the visual impact of the large case, and to accommodate site lines to the plazas and buildings beyond, a transparent ‘shell’ was designed. The thin spines that support the inner map case and clear front and back of the outer case help reduce the visual profile of the sign.
